Arsenal Sacks Sporting Director Edu

In an official statement issued Monday night under the title "Edu Gaspar Resigns as Sporting Director," Arsenal FC stated that Edu Gaspar had resigned as Sporting Director. The announcement comes after earlier rumors of the Brazilian's departure were circulated Online and other publications. A renowned member of Arsenal's "Invincibles," Edu made his official comeback to the team in July 2019 as Technical Director.

He was promoted to Sporting Director in November 2022 as a result of his commitment and strategic thinking, where he managed the men's, women's, and academy teams and established a unified and aspirational football vision. Edu discussed the challenge of departing after giving some thought to his choice: "This was an extremely hard decision to make."

“Arsenal has given me the opportunity to work with so many amazing people and to be part of something truly special in the club’s history.

“It has been a memorable journey, and I thank Stan, Josh, Tim, and Lord Harris for the support they have shown me.”

He highlighted the relationships he formed, adding, “I’ve loved working with so many great colleagues across our men’s, women’s, and academy teams, especially Mikel, who has become a close friend.

“Now it’s time to pursue a different challenge. Arsenal will always have a place in my heart. I wish the club and its supporters nothing but the best.”
